Description:

Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville (UAF) invites applications for a grant-funded, full-time Business Development Specialist position. This position is based in Fayetteville, AR with travel throughout the state.

AMS is a program of ASTA (Arkansas Science & Technology Authority) to provide manufacturing extension services to Arkansas Manufacturers.

AMS Goal: Strengthen Arkansas companies’ capacity to innovate, create wealth, expand knowledge-based jobs, and compete globally.

AMS Focus: Small and medium size enterprises

AMS Mission: Improve bottom line results of Arkansas Manufacturers by providing fee based training and consultancy services in the following areas:
• Strategic business solutions and growth services
• Lean Enterprises
• Green and Sustainability
• Environmental Health and Safety
• Technology Transfer Grants
• Arkansas Innovation Marketplace

Position Summary:

1) Create and build client relationships in order to meet with potential customers to determine their specific need for services. 2) Troubleshoot and evaluate client business practices, and identify assistance required in order to help build/expand their business. 3) Assist client in developing and facilitating the proposal process for specific clients/sponsors, including budget and pricing development, proposal writing, contract negotiations, and client presentations. 4) Work with other AMS project managers to develop and facilitate the proposal process for clients including budget and pricing development, proposal writing, contract negotiations, and client presentations. 5) Identify and carry out activities that develop leads and potential clients for AMS in order to meet AMS’ revenue and client serve goals. Required travel estimated to be approximately 50% within the state of Arkansas with some overnight travel.

Minimum Requirements:

The successful applicant must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Marketing, or related field. At least five years experience in consultative/solutions sales with demonstrated ability to meet a quota.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree or equivalent in Business, Marketing, or related field is preferred.
• Five or more years experience in sales and marketing with the ability to work with business executives and technical people in technology and manufacturing companies. Knowledge of leading edge technology in manufacturing principles and processes
• Ability to arrange meetings with “C” level decision makers in an organization and sell for fee based services.
