The SMART Portal

• provides science and math lesson plans that incorporate hands-on classroom activities and 21st century teaching methods and

• assists teachers in accomplishing Arkansas Department of Education required curriculum frameworks.

The Science and Mathematics Accessible Resource Tool, SMART Portal is an online database of selected lesson plans created in an effort to improve science and mathematics instruction in Arkansas secondary schools.  Math and science teachers will find unique interactive lessons that will provide hands-on experience and generate enthusiasm in the classroom.   SMART allows anyone to search and download stored lessons.  Each lesson contains valuable activities that can be used to enhance specific science/math curriculum concepts and meet Arkansas' required educational standards in grade levels 7-12.  Many of the lessons provide an optional technological component as well as a list of the 21st Century Skills integrated in the lesson.   These skills are defined by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills.  http://www.21stcenturyskills.org
